Clinical and Environmental Factors Associated with Pulmonary Tuberculosis in Prisoners in Northeastern Brazil

Abstract This study aimed to assess clinical and environmental factors associated with pulmonary tuberculosis in prisoners. We carried out a documentary, retrospective, epidemiological of records cases prison hospital Northeastern Brazil. The sample consisted data from medical prisoners diagnosed TB January 2015 2016. Information such as age, race, marital status, education level, weight, height, harmful habits, on mucous membrane, cough, sputum, breathing pattern, bacilloscopy, initiation type treatment, treatment duration, origin time spent were assessed. A total 109 analyzed. Mean age was 28.5 (± 7.9) years, most (n=87; 79.8%) single. In all, 78.0% (n=85) the had primary 73.4% (n=80) self-declared Pardos (mixed-race Brazilians). Statistically significant associations found between level prevalence cough (p=.042), presence (p=.014), BMI membrane coloration (p=.001). habits are different those expected for good quality life. addition, health conditions also contribute infection. These findings emphasize need actions targeted at eliminating raise awareness about hygiene life habits.
